Search can not find my records

Problem

Searching with a record name of other free text doesn't find what I'm looking for, but I know that records matching with search exists.

Solution

Free text search and searching text from text/string fields differ a bit in out-of-the-box ServiceNow and DCM follows the same logic.

For example, free text search interprets *-character different than searching with a String type of field value.

  • In a zing text search "*" character will replace zero to N characters from the string.
  • String field search uses "*" character as contains type of operator
